Caleb Elder, MA, LPCC

Hi, I’m Caleb. My mission is to empower and support children, teens and adults on their journey towards flourishing personal, relational, and vocational lives.

I am passionate about standing alongside others as they begin to take courageous steps towards facing the past, engaging with the present, or moving towards the future. I firmly believe that each person has the capacity to flourish in life with the right support. As a clinically trained counselor, I am equipped to listen, encourage, and help you find solutions to the problems that seem to be holding you back.

MY STORY

I have always loved solving problems and my childhood was full of brain teasers and board games that always captured my attention. As a young adult, I pursued a bachelor’s degree in engineering and enjoyed solving problems using numbers and science. As a counselor, I do my absolute best to help you identify the specific problems that you are facing and collaborate with you to find creative and effective solutions.

Learning to be an adult who enjoys life, feels proud of my work, and engages in healthy relationships is my greatest success. I want that same experience for all of my clients. I use a directive and personal approach incorporating curiosity, humor, and challenge in fairly equal parts. I dig into values, past experiences, motivation, goals, and patterns of behavior in order to help you see more clearly what is getting in the way of you living a life that you love.

I specialize in working with emerging adults, that is teenagers to mid-thirty-year-olds who are figuring out what it means to be an adult. In almost every situation I have found that people are doing the best they can with what they’ve got. This leads me to believe if people can only figure out more clearly what’s going wrong and find the tools to deal with it, they can take back control of their own lives and pursue a fulfilling and enjoyable existence.

I am neurodivergent affirming and love working with those who have ADHD, Autism, and the unique differences that are harder to put into a box. For my neurodivergent clients, I can incorporate executive function coaching and help teach them how to build a life that relies on their strengths and effectively copes with their weaknesses.

I am passionate about helping you find a career you love and can be effective in. I had a challenging time figuring out what I wanted to do with my own life. I have many interests and feel I could do fairly well in many different fields. However, I struggled to find a place where I felt confident I would feel purposeful and effective over the long haul. I work with people to identify the gifts, values, and strengths that they can use in order to engage in purposeful work, solving a problem in the world that feels meaningful and engaging.

I want to help you build healthy and fulfilling relationships in your life. Your friends, family, and romantic partners can be sources of wonderful joy or incredible pain. While you can’t control other people, you can control how you show up and engage in those relationships. I help my clients learn to build healthy, balanced, enjoyable, and authentic relationships.

When I am not in the counseling office, you can find me trying a new recipe in the kitchen, lifting weights in the gym, or exploring the Rocky Mountains on foot or on a snowboard. I also love to travel and will be out of the office from time to time experiencing new countries, cultures, and cuisines with my family. If you ever want to change the topic mid-session you can always ask me what I'm currently reading and easily distract me with book recommendations!
